Change their teachers! English school campaign
Modo, Photoshop
May 2011

Some time ago I got a call from my good friend Paula Fernandes, which is an Art director working in Ogilvy & Mather with an offer I couldn`t refuse. She presented me her idea for a campaign to this English school here in Brazil called Red Ballon. She already had the first studies that were developed by Thiago Hoisel (some of you might be familiar to his great 2D work). We loved not only her idea, but the hole visual aspect of the images she wanted us to produce.
The ad consists in 3 images that were created by our team here in Studio Notan. The images were modeled textured and rendered in modo, and we used PS for post
One of the many challenges we had in these images was to create a kind of shock between the style of huge heads and the cartoony look in the the images. Our choice was to create the heads using more textures and details than the rest, and use elements that would give a slightly realistic look to their style, and post work was essential in that part. Thiago Hoisel gave us a good path to follow in his studies, where he defined the style of the cartoony elements and also of the caricatures. It was very helpful even considering that we took the liberty to make our own interpretation of some elements of his first studies.

The title of the campaign says "Change their teachers"

Art direction: Paula Fernandes
Agency: Ogilvy & Mather
Client: Red Ballon
Inicial concept art: Thiago Hoisel
Final ilustrations: Studio NOTAN http://www.notan.com.br

Here are the other 2 arts and some details (click to see bigger res):

Hope you guys like it!
